We're Engaged!!

Shane and I had talked about getting married before, so I knew a proposal was coming, I just didn't know when it would be. He'd picked out a ring earlier this week and I knew he wasn't getting it until Saturday night, so the proposal could be any time after that. We were talking about it one day, and he told me that he was going to fake propose to me a few times so that when it was the real proposal I wouldn't be expecting it at all. I told him how mean that was, and he just thought it was funny. . .

Saturday rolled around and I was getting excited! I knew that any day after that Shane could be proposing! We had my grandma's birthday party to go to at five, and at four fifty I got a phone call from him. He said that he'd gotten off a few minutes early and he wanted to come get me so we could hurry and take some fun pictures at our favorite place while it was light outside and good weather. I thought that was a little strange, but said ok. On the way to Daybreak lake, I started thinking that maybe he was going to propose!! But then I remembered the jewelers said the ring wouldn't be ready until seven, so that idea quickly left my brain. We got to the lake and started walking over to the echo tunnel. When we were almost there he stopped me! He pointed down and there was a painted rock with the letter "I" on it. I looked at it and then at him. He told me to pick it up and I called him a jerk and grabbed it, (I thought it was a fake proposal.) On the back it said something he loved about me. I looked at him and told him fake proposals are not funny! We walked a little farther down and there was another one with a heart. And then another, and another! It spelled out, "I heart Candy," and by the time we were at the "Y" rock, we were at the tunnel. In the tunnel was a brand new porch swing. I called him a jerk again and told him this had better not be fake. (He's not a jerk, I was just freaking out. I LOVE SHANE!) We walked over to the swing and sat down. He talked to me for a couple of minutes, (I only remember half of what he said, I was SO nervous and excited,) and then he told me that this porch swing we were sitting on is ours, and he wanted to show me something on it. He reached around and grabbed a box. OH MY GOSH IT WAS EXCITING! He then got down on one knee and proposed!! Of course I said yes! All of a sudden Shane's whole family came out, they were all there taking pictures and recording! We took a few more pictures, then his family left for a few minutes so we could sit on the swing and talk. We talked, and hugged, and kissed, and giggled, and then we had to go to my grandma's birthday party. (Perfect timing, I didn't have to call any relatives, they were all there!)

All right so the background to the proposal:

The rocks: When I was little I used to paint and sell rocks, so he thought that would be cute to tie in. He painted them dark purple, blue, and aqua, (our wedding colors that we'd decided!)

The Echo Tunnel: It's one of our favorite places. When we go on walks around the lake, which we do often, we always stop in the echo tunnel and yell random words or sing random songs.

The Porch Swing: Our absolute favorite thing to do is sit on the porch swing and talk. We'd much rather be sitting there swinging instead of watching a movie or playing a game.

The proposal was perfect and I couldn't be marrying a more perfect man! I am so lucky to have Shane in my life, and can't wait to spend the rest of forever with him!
