Sunday

Shane and I were able to spend the Sunday sessions of General Conference with my family, and it was a blast! A couple years ago my mom came up with Conference Bingo to keep us kids awake and listening, and it stuck, so we do it every year now. It was extra fun to do with Shane there, since pretty much every prize he won was candy, he shared it all with me! (How sweet is he?!)

In between the sessions, my little sister and I decided we wanted to do Shane's hair. It started with straightening, and ended in a faux hawk. (Man, my future husband is hot!)

So the talks were great, weren't they!? I will admit we both might have dozed off during the afternoon session, but we did listen to the morning one! (Monson's talk was great, and I love that he quoted The Beatles!!)

After Conference ended, we had a late lunch/dinner, and it was so so delicious! We ate and ate and ate. . .and then we ate candy.

We then watched a Mormon movie. I loved it, but Shane says I owe him. . . . I guess it was pretty bad acting. Anyway, during the movie, somehow we started trying to give each other a wet willy. That turned into a big wrestling match that my mom thought would make some great photos.

All in all it was a pretty amazing day. I love my fiance, and look so forward to spending many Sundays just like this one with him.

Barnum & Bailey

I was fortunate enough to win two tickets off the radio for the circus! I was so excited, as I had just barely heard about them coming to town the previous day and I really was wanting to go!

Shane and I went on Sept. 22nd, and it was awesome! The clowns were super colorful and cute, the animals were just great and did fantastic tricks, the singing was terrible but all the awesomeness of everything else made up for that. There were trapeze people, tight rope walkers, acrobats, fire, etc! My favorite guy was the one who made the tigers and elephants do tricks. His voice was hilarious, it reminded me of a Korean game show host. It was the best!

I had so much fun with my future hubs, and going to the circus definitely made me want to run away with it, holy awesome!

Oh and happy Elephant Appreciation Day!

3 2 1 Go

I love that I will never have another boyfriend, and I love that I now have a fiance. I have a fiance! I'm going to be a wife; not only a wife, but a wife to the most amazing, sweet, perfect, handsome man in the world! And he's going to be my husband! Ahhhh!

I love that Shane loves color. I've always been addicted to color. I used to get told that I would never find anyone to be with who would love color as much as I do, but guess what, I did! And he's wonderful!

Shane is crazy. He says things that I don't always understand, but it's always somehow funny. And the randomness of his comments and answers to questions crack me up. I can't get enough of it!

I have never met anyone as sweet as Shane. He opens the door for me, he tells me he loves me constantly so that I never doubt it, he's always complimenting me, and he's so understanding about everything. They don't come any sweeter than Shane, be jealous I got him.

Shane and I always seem to be thinking the same thing. It doesn't matter what it has to do with, we are always just thinking alike!! It's one of the most awesome things about us!

Shane holds my hand, hugs and kisses, and dances with me in public, and he's not even embarrassed! He doesn't ever act ashamed to be around me, instead it seems like he shows me off most of the time. It's the greatest feeling in the world!

I love that it doesn't matter what Shane and I are doing, we're always having fun! We could be out somewhere, sitting on the swing, going for a walk, or just watching a movie, and it is always the best! I've never had as much fun with anyone as I have with him. He's super fun and he makes me super happy!

Shane has been such a good influence on me, and I love it! Just being around him makes me want to be a better person. He is such a good person! And I love so so much!

Shane is always putting me first. I never asked him to, he just does it. He's very sweet that way, and he's always showing me how much he cares about me and it's so awesome! I don't ever think he doesn't care about me, but it's nice reassurance when I'm having a bad day. Does that make sense? Hmm.

I love going shopping with Shane. He is hilarious and we goof off a lot in public. It's fun, he's the best he is!

I love Shane Randall and can't wait to marry him in four months!!

We're Engaged!!

Shane and I had talked about getting married before, so I knew a proposal was coming, I just didn't know when it would be. He'd picked out a ring earlier this week and I knew he wasn't getting it until Saturday night, so the proposal could be any time after that. We were talking about it one day, and he told me that he was going to fake propose to me a few times so that when it was the real proposal I wouldn't be expecting it at all. I told him how mean that was, and he just thought it was funny. . .

Saturday rolled around and I was getting excited! I knew that any day after that Shane could be proposing! We had my grandma's birthday party to go to at five, and at four fifty I got a phone call from him. He said that he'd gotten off a few minutes early and he wanted to come get me so we could hurry and take some fun pictures at our favorite place while it was light outside and good weather. I thought that was a little strange, but said ok. On the way to Daybreak lake, I started thinking that maybe he was going to propose!! But then I remembered the jewelers said the ring wouldn't be ready until seven, so that idea quickly left my brain. We got to the lake and started walking over to the echo tunnel. When we were almost there he stopped me! He pointed down and there was a painted rock with the letter "I" on it. I looked at it and then at him. He told me to pick it up and I called him a jerk and grabbed it, (I thought it was a fake proposal.) On the back it said something he loved about me. I looked at him and told him fake proposals are not funny! We walked a little farther down and there was another one with a heart. And then another, and another! It spelled out, "I heart Candy," and by the time we were at the "Y" rock, we were at the tunnel. In the tunnel was a brand new porch swing. I called him a jerk again and told him this had better not be fake. (He's not a jerk, I was just freaking out. I LOVE SHANE!) We walked over to the swing and sat down. He talked to me for a couple of minutes, (I only remember half of what he said, I was SO nervous and excited,) and then he told me that this porch swing we were sitting on is ours, and he wanted to show me something on it. He reached around and grabbed a box. OH MY GOSH IT WAS EXCITING! He then got down on one knee and proposed!! Of course I said yes! All of a sudden Shane's whole family came out, they were all there taking pictures and recording! We took a few more pictures, then his family left for a few minutes so we could sit on the swing and talk. We talked, and hugged, and kissed, and giggled, and then we had to go to my grandma's birthday party. (Perfect timing, I didn't have to call any relatives, they were all there!)

All right so the background to the proposal:

The rocks: When I was little I used to paint and sell rocks, so he thought that would be cute to tie in. He painted them dark purple, blue, and aqua, (our wedding colors that we'd decided!)

The Echo Tunnel: It's one of our favorite places. When we go on walks around the lake, which we do often, we always stop in the echo tunnel and yell random words or sing random songs.

The Porch Swing: Our absolute favorite thing to do is sit on the porch swing and talk. We'd much rather be sitting there swinging instead of watching a movie or playing a game.

The proposal was perfect and I couldn't be marrying a more perfect man! I am so lucky to have Shane in my life, and can't wait to spend the rest of forever with him!

The Beginning

Shane and I grew up in the same stake, and for some of the time, same ward. Our families knew each other, but he and I weren't friends. Shane's family moved out of our stake and into a different neighborhood five minutes away when he was 15 years old. . .

In 2008, I started attending a single's ward, it just happened to be Shane's. I went to that ward for a year with a friend, but Shane and I never spoke a word to each other. I do however, remember watching Shane during the sacrament. My friend and I always thought he had a somewhat old fashioned look to him, and it was intriguing. . . well and I really liked just watching him, (he is very attractive! Holy cow I sound like a stalker. I promise I am not!) I don't know why I never talked to him, I really should have. I ended up leaving that ward in 2009 and going back to my home ward. . .

In May 2011, Shane had a movie night at his house. My friend wanted me to go with him to it, and normally I do not do social activities, but for some reason, I really wanted to go to this! I remember the whole drive to Shane's house, I just kept thinking in my head, "Why in the world do I want to go to this so bad?? I HATE social things!" It was so odd! So shortly after my friend and I arrived, Shane came over and said hi. I remember seeing him and thinking, "I want to date this guy. Like, really bad I think." I laughed an extra lot at his jokes, smiled tons, and flipped my hair a little, trying to get his attention. . . haha. The movie started and all I could think about the entire time was where he was and how I can make myself look available to get him to come over. Eventually my friend and I went inside, and Shane followed! He talked to us for a bit, and I was loving it! My friend and I left shortly after that, and I was SO bummed I didn't talk to Shane more. He was all I could think about for weeks. I wanted to add him on facebook, (haha. . . good ol' facebook,) but I was too worried I'd look like a creeper, so I didn't. . . .

In July, I got a friend request on facebook from Shane! I was ecstatic! I added him right away and then stalked his page a little. . . . I really wanted to write to him and say something, but I'm a coward so I didn't. One day, I wrote on my status something about my nose being so big, and Shane commented on it! I showed my mom, and she told me he was flirting with me and that I should say something back! I got super shy and told her nooooooo, but she made me reply anyway. So I did, and he wrote back again!! By this point I was super giggly, so I started to flirt a little, and Shane flirted right back! Before I knew it we had exchanged numbers and moved onto texting, (I love technology!) We wrote back and forth a little and then set up our first date. I was so excited, I could NOT stop smiling! (I remember I was hanging out with friends while I was texting him, and they all kept making fun of me because I kept randomly giggling.) . . .

We went on our first date on August 9th. It couldn't have gone better. We went for a ride on Ruby, (his motorcycle,) that was amazing because it forced me to hold onto him! We played hopscotch and I kicked butt, we played on the swings and got to know each other, and . . . honestly, I don't remember what we did after that because I was too happy to focus on anything except for the fact that I was on a date with the most amazing guy I've ever met, (I could already tell there was something about him I couldn't get enough of!) I'm pretty sure we ended the date swinging on my porch swing, because we talked about when our next date would be. We decided on having it the next night. . .

Shane and I have seen each other everyday since our first date. Some days we've been able to spend 8+ hours together, other days it's just been an hour or so, but we really try to make an effort to at least see each other once everyday. We've had some awesome dates, and I've never had so much fun with anyone before. Our favorite things to do are sit on my porch swing and talk, and go for walks around Daybreak Lake. Some of our past dates include boating, watching Kid History, the zoo, camping, shooting, watching movies with Sean and Melanie, playing Just Dance on the Wii, Ikea, and many many more.

I've struggled with being happy for the past six years, and at one point I didn't think it was possible for me to ever be happy. That's when Shane came into my life. He has made me happier than I've ever been before, I didn't think it was even possible for anyone to be this happy! I can't help but smile when I think of him and laugh when I'm with him.  I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! Shane and I couldn't be more perfect for each other. I can't wait to spend the rest of forever with him!
